This highly professional ensemble plays music from the 16th century and contemporary music expressly written for these instruments.

Serikon is a new ensemble, based in Gothenburg, Sweden, composed of singers and instrumentalists playing on period instruments. The leader of the group is trombone player Daniel Stighäll, who has dedicated his musical life to the revitalisation of the improvising tradition in early music.

The CD contains “standards” from the Renaissance, by famous composers such as Orlando di Lasso, Cipriano de Rore and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, as well as by less well-known and anonymous masters. The last track on the CD contains a contemporary piece for solo trombone.

The members of the group also appear in other hot early music ensembles, such as much praised Göteborg Baroque with conductor Magnus Kjellson and soprano soloist Anna Jobrant. Also featured on this album is the internationally renowned cornetto player William Dongois, a true virtuoso on his instrument.
